These terms and conditions apply to the use of the Tree & Compass website and to enquiries and services provided by Tree & Compass.

1. About Tree & Compass

Tree & Compass is an independent celebrant service based in the West of Scotland, offering non-religious and non-legal ceremonies including funerals, weddings, naming ceremonies, and vow renewals.

Tree & Compass operates as a sole trader.
 

2. Website use

This website is provided for general information and enquiry purposes only.

You agree to use this website lawfully and respectfully. Content may not be copied, reproduced, or used for commercial purposes without permission.

Tree & Compass makes reasonable efforts to ensure the information on this website is accurate and up to date, but does not guarantee that all content is free from errors or omissions.

3. Enquiries and bookings

Submitting an enquiry through this website does not create a binding agreement.

A booking is only confirmed once:

  • availability has been agreed, and

  • terms (including fees and timing) have been confirmed directly.

Tree & Compass reserves the right to decline enquiries where it is not possible or appropriate to provide services.

4. Nature of services

All ceremonies provided by Tree & Compass are:

  • Non-religious unless otherwise agreed

  • Non-legal in nature

For weddings, Tree & Compass does not solemnise or legally register marriages. Legal requirements must be fulfilled separately through a registrar or authorised body.

5. Fees and payment

Fees are agreed in advance and confirmed directly.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Payment terms will be outlined at the time of booking

  • Any deposits or cancellation terms will be communicated clearly

Tree & Compass reserves the right to adjust fees for additional time, travel, or changes requested outside the agreed scope.

6. Cancellations and changes

If you need to cancel or change a booking, you are encouraged to give as much notice as possible.

Specific cancellation terms will be discussed and confirmed at the time of booking, taking into account the nature of the service and preparation already undertaken.

7. Sensitive information

Some services may involve sensitive personal information.

Any information shared is:

  • provided voluntarily

  • used only for the purpose of delivering the agreed service

  • handled with care and discretion

8. Liability

Tree & Compass will provide services with reasonable care, skill, and professionalism.

Tree & Compass is not responsible for:

  • matters outside its control (including venue issues, third-party providers, or unforeseen circumstances)

  • emotional outcomes beyond the agreed role of a celebrant

Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

All website content, including text and branding, remains the property of Tree & Compass unless otherwise stated.

Ceremony scripts are created for personal use by the client and may not be reproduced or published for commercial purposes without permission.
